50th Anniversary “Legacy in Motion” Logo Unveiled by The Providence Foundation Celebrates Downtown History

Providence's Trailblaze Marketing Delivers Bold Brand Identity

Providence, RI – The Providence Foundation today unveiled the official logo for its 50th anniversary celebration, themed “A Legacy in Motion,” which will take place on October 3, 2025, at The Reserve on Dorrance. The new brand mark, created by downtown-based Trailblaze Marketing, highlights iconic features of Providence’s skyline and celebrates the pivotal role The Foundation has played in shaping the city’s urban evolution.

“The Foundation has been an extraordinary advocate, consensus-builder, and partner to downtown Providence including its businesses, nonprofits, and residents,” said David Salvatore, executive director of The Providence Foundation. “With our 50th Anniversary, we celebrate transformational successes of the past and inspire new generations to take part in envisioning the future for this extraordinary downtown.”

The Foundation’s work over the last five decades includes landmark projects such as:

- Relocation of the Woonasquatucket and Moshassuck rivers that reshaped the city’s downtown landscape while creating the Providence River Walk and Waterplace Park.

- Construction of the Michael S. Van Leesten Pedestrian Bridge.

- Relocation of the I‑195 bridge opening up 20 acres of development land.

- Movement of the downtown train tracks clearing the way for 40 acres of development in Capital Center.

The 50th anniversary event is co-chaired by Christopher and Romolo Marsella of Marsella Development Group. Christopher currently serves as Chair of The Providence Foundation Board, following in the footsteps of his father Romolo, one of the organization’s first executive directors in the 1970s.

"Providence has always been the Creative Capital, and it’s been a true honor for Trailblaze to help bring that spirit to life through this milestone branding project," said Chris Parisi, Founder & CEO of Trailblaze Marketing. "Our work celebrates the Foundation’s powerful legacy while looking ahead to the next chapter. Providence’s story is still being written and The Providence Foundation continues to be a driving force in shaping it."
